The beginning of a new journey

Today (March 30th, 2009) is a new start for the Pew family! From the day I met David, he has worked at the same place (8 years). It was good and it got us through the first part of our life together. I never thought he'd stay there that long but he did and it was great. David got his degree from ASU in Justice Studies back in 2005 and I've been waiting for him to "dive" into that degree and start his career. The day has finally arrived! Today David started a new job as a police officer with the Salt River Indian Community.

For those of you who don't know where that is, it's the area where the Casino and Scottsdale Community College is. It's borderline Scottsdale. Part of his area actually does cover Scottsdale. Anyhow, he is very excited to start his career as a police officer and then to move onto bigger and even better things down the road!

I can't wait to see my man in his hot uniform! I know the Salt River community is going to LOVE "Officer Pew" and I know that David is equally excited to get to know the community and serve and protect the people there. I think David is most excited about the fact that it's a smaller community so he will get to know people and be on a first-name basis with everyone. He is such a people person so this is just the community for him! I'm so proud of my man and what he has accomplished from the day I met him. He is such a hard worker and the best Daddy and husband I could ever ask for! I'm so blessed and lucky to have him as my hubby for ever and ever and ever!!!

Getting to know Kylee...

This girl never ceases to amaze me. When it comes to Kylee, there are a few things you need to know:
*
A. She LOVES to dance and sing
B. She LOVES to read books and she has them memorized after 2 readings
C. She LOVES to clean
D. She LOVES to wear night gowns (or slips that she thinks are night gowns)
E. She LOVES to have her hair down so that she can swish it around like a princess
*
As you will see in these pictures below, 3 of the 5 things she loves to do on a daily basis are shown here (C, D, and E)!

*
I'm sure I'll have to use dishes as a "chore" for her to earn allowance one day, but for now, I use it as leverage and take away her "dishes" privileges when she is not behaving. It's GREAT! She even knows where to put all the dishes in the dish washer. I don't have to re-organize the dishes before running the washer. The only "downside" to letting her do all the dishes is that it wastes a lot of water! But I think I can manage with that. I LOVE this girl!

Going our seperate ways....VERY busy weekend!

This past weekend was a crazy busy one! My volleyball team had a national qualifier tournament in Denver Colorado so I left on Thursday. David then got invited to go to his brother's cabin, with his other brother's family, so him and Kylee took off Friday night. Thank you to Lee and Courtney for keeping my "babies" busy and helping them have fun while I was gone!!
*
Here are some pictures from my crazy Colorado adventure...
*

Me and Jaime on the plane there...

Matti and Stacy......I have beautiful girls on my team!

*
We didn't play until 4pm on the first day so we found a shopping center that had a California Pizza Kitchen in it. So we got our grub on! This is us waiting outside for our table. (We are wearing pink because the first day of the tourney was a "dig pink" event that honored the support of finding a cure for breast cancer. It was awesome. Every team was wearing pink.....and there were at LEAST 300 teams there! Amazing!

*
Me and Jaime again at the complex waiting for our team to play!

*

Mikalie being goofy as usual.....watching a team play on the court before us.

*

Elevator pic at our hotel!

*

A shot of the convention center where we played. There were 74 courts there. It was HUGE!

*
Um....this note is a funny story! My girls were apparently being too "noisy" late one night at the hotel and so we found a HATE note on our van window the next morning. It's too small to read but it basically says that they hope we lose by 1 point every game and get in last place because that's what we deserve. Hahaha! Little do they know that it's IMPOSSIBLE to lose by 1 point in volleyball! Oh, and we ended up winning ALL our games this day! Haha!

*
A funny picture from Coach Jaime's computer.

*

We had some time to spare between games so my girls improvised and kept themselves "busy"!
*
The TEAM!!! GO HAVOK!

*
*
Okay...now onto David and Kylee's little weekend adventure up in the snow....
*
Here is Kylee playing in some snow they found...

*
Uncle "Lee-Bob" playing with Kylee.....(so cute!)

*
Kylee and her most favorite person in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD...Navy Grace! Kylee wants to be just like her. She idolizes the ground she walks on!

*
Kylee being Kylee!

*
All the girls! Lee and Courtney have 4 girls so Kylee fits right in with their family!

*
Kylee was mad because she didn't get to go inside Walmart. This is her "mad/sad" face!

*
We had so much fun on our seperate adventures this past weekend. I sure did miss my baby girl and hubby! It was so good to come home and catch up on some time lost away from each other.

As blonde as I'm gonna get!

So going back to the original "bet" on the Cardinals.....that if they won, I'd go blonde. Well, it didn't happen (as you all sadly know) but I was still encouraged by most everyone to go ahead with my end of the deal and go blonde. Well, almost 2 months later and here I am doing it!
*
Here I am all excited in my BEFORE PICTURE:
*
Still excited while getting my hair did!

*
I had about 5 pounds of foil in my hair! AWESOME!

*
Um....and here is the end product from day one! I say "day one" because we ended up touching up the "orange colored" highlights! Wasn't quite what we had expected!

*
And here is the FINAL FINAL product of my hair journey. I was fully expecting to go semi-platinum blonde but I came to the hard realization that it's not going to happen over night when I've been DARK my entire life!

*
Maybe in time I will get to that barbie blonde that everyone was hoping for! LOL! I love my hair the way it turned out right now. It reminds me of the way it looked when I got married, and that was my most favorite hair style! Thanks Tanya and thanks for the 6 1/2 hours of working on my hair! Seriously.....6 1/2 hours!!! You rock!

Just me and my baby

Today David and I went to a spring training game. We weren't really all that into it though. I think David would've had more fun if he went with one of his buddies........but non-the-less, we had a fun time just being together! We have been able to spend a lot of time together lately and it's been great! I love this man so much and I never thought I could be more proud of him, but I have been proven wrong these past couple weeks. We have grown so much closer as a couple and I can't get enough of him! We have so much fun together, he makes me laugh daily, and I know he will always be there for me no matter what. I look at this time we've been able to spend together as a HUGE blessing in disguise!

I love you Davey Baby! Hahah! He'll cringe when he reads this! I gave him that nick-name as we were driving home from the game. Hahaha!

Please make a donation!

My club volleyball team is going to Colorado for a tournament in a couple weeks. The tournament organizer is making this tournament very special by adding a great cause to the event. I'm not sure if any of you have heard of the "dig pink" event but it's in support of finding a cure for breast cancer. Local high schools around the valley and across the US partipicate in this as well. My Higley team participated in it when we played Williamsfield High School back in October. It's great and an amazing way to bring light and money to the organization to fight breast cancer. I had someone dear to me pass away 2 years ago from it and I have family members who have been affected by it as well. Please please please look at our team's website and see that we only need to raise $500. Every team has a goal of raising $500 and if we all make our goal, we will raise 10's of thousands of dollars for this organization! Thanks everyone! Here is the website: http://www.sideoutvolleyball.org/mainevent/minievent/CAVCBA17H/.
Even $5 would be AWESOME!

Mmmmmm......doughnuts!

Kylee had her first field trip with her preschool class on Tuesday. They went to the best place on earth......KRISPY KREME DOUGHNUTS! I "stole" this picture from my friend's blog and it transfered funny so I played around with it and I like the way it ended up! It looks kind of vintage as if they are back in the "olden" days! Hahaha!
*

Kylee LOVES preschool and all the friends she has made. She's the 3rd one from the left if you can't tell. I'm pretty sure she is standing on her tip toes but I'm going to say that she isn't and that she is TALL and is going to grow up to be a HUGE front row hitter for a top-notch volleyball team! LOL! I'll keep on believing
and dreaming!
*
Cathy (the friend I stole the original picture up top from) sent me a couple more pictures from the field trip after reading my post! So I had to post a couple of them. So cute! Thanks Cathy!!!

California Mid-Winter Fair

Lucky for us, the California Mid-Winter Fair was in town while we were visiting David's parents in California. I'm so glad we went because I know Kylee will never forget it! She was smiling from ear to ear the entire time! Once again, I left my camera at home (in AZ) so I had to resort to the poor quality of my camera phone. I'm just glad I was able to document it because these are some great memories for Kylee to last a life time!
*
We first went and saw all the animals. The bunnies were Kylee's favorite. We saw goats, steers, calves, pigs, chickens, roosters, and more.
*
Daddy and Kylee!

*
And then we hit up all the rides! She went on all the kiddie rides possible. I think this one was her favorite. It whipped her around the corners so fast. She loved it! And yes....she is in a Budweiser car! The only "beer" car on the track. Good choice Kylee!

*
A mini-Sea Dragon ride!

*
The flying barrels. They went a higher than Kylee expected. She was a little nervous on this ride. But got the hang of it and loved it as well!

*
The swings. Kylee was a little too short to ride this one by herself so Daddy went with her (since all fair rides make me sick)!

*
I could do the slide though! It doesn't spin around in circles so I went with Kylee on this one!

*
The water ride. David had to push her sometimes because it wasn't very fast. LOL

*
The ferris wheel. Not sure who this little girl was sitting with Kylee but it was fun for Kylee to have a "friend" on a ride.

*
We had to go back and take a picture of David's nephew's steer. It was 1443 pounds!!! He will probably make $12,000 off this steer. Crazy! He's only 12!

*
David tried to get it to stand up so we could get a good picture of it. He was slapping it on the butt. I think it hurt David's hand more than the steer! LOL

*
And last but not least, my little dare devil wanted to go on this jumping thing. She made me so proud! She was the youngest one to do it!

*
*
I always LOVE coming to El Centro to visit with David's parents but this trip was a much needed and "fun" trip! I couldn't ask for better in-laws. We are so blessed to have such amazing examples in our lives. Kylee adores her Grandma Deedee and Grandpa Jiggs! She never wants to leave. We just might let her stay one of these trips! LOL
