First trip to the dentist

If you haven't noticed, my goal is to post something new every day this week. Okay, so that's not my goal but so much has been happening lately that I feel like I'm posting daily! Anyhow, Kylee had her first dental cleaning today. Traci (from our ward) did an AMAZING job! Kylee was excited and laughed and cooperated so well. I was so proud of her! I think I was more worried than her.
*
She did so well during her cleaning that they took some x-rays of her teeth. Apparently they don't normally take x-rays on little kids because it's hard for them to do and most kids can't sit still through them. Kylee took those x-rays like a champ!

*
Here she is showing off her clean, WHITE smile!

*
I almost don't want to write what I'm about to write because it's so sad. Kylee ended up having 9.....count them.....N-I-N-E cavities! I was shocked when I heard that because Kylee LOVES to brush her teeth and rarely misses a day of brushing. Apparently her teeth are so close together that her toothbrush can't reach between them. I didn't realize I needed to floss my 3 year old's teeth!!! She has cavities between all her molars (top and bottom) and one small cavity on her front lower tooth. My poor baby is going to have to be sedated to get all this dental work done. I'm glad that she won't be in pain, but so sad because going under for anything (small or big) is a scary thing! I know she'll do great and she will be fine, but I'm so scared! I just want all this to be over!
(Thank goodness for David's new AMAZING dental insurance......we won't have to pay a penny!!!)

Swimming lessons 2009

Kylee just started swimming lessons this week. This is her second summer of taking lessons and it is surely paying off! Last year she learned how to basically hold her breath under water and swim to the side of the pool incase she fell in. She did great! This year she is finally grasping the use of her arms. She was taught arm circles last year but I think she was too young to really understand. I'm so proud of her!! She's doing a great job!

Somehow she sensed that I was taking her picture. I didn't even call her name but she happened to look back just as I was snapping the picture. Suzy, her teacher in the water, is awesome! Kylee just loves Miss Suzy! She can't wait for swimming lessons everyday!

Lucky number 7

It's posts like these that I wish I had a scanner so I could post some pictures of our wedding........o'well! 7 years ago today, David and I committed ourselves to each other for all time and eternity. I'm so blessed and lucky to have such an amazing man for the rest of my life and beyond.
A little background to the number 7...........this has always been David's lucky number. He was born in the 7th month, on the 17th day, in 1979 and weighed 7 pounds 7 ounces. A little luck about this number for us together is that we met on his birthday (7th month on the 17th) and we got married on the 17th! So needless to say, 7 is the lucky number! We are hoping that this luck will roll with us during our 7th year of marriage. Only good things can happen with this number, so we are very hopeful for a lot of things this year!

I LOVE YOU BABY!!!

I'm on a posting frenzy!!!

Lately it seems like I've had so many things to blog about. It might be boring to you, but it's journal and memory time for me!
*
This week Kylee went on her last field trip for this preschool year. I chaperoned this one so I took a lot of pictures! They went to Superstition Farms and it was so cute! The kids loved to look at, pet and hold the animals but us adults learned a ton of information! It was enlightening! Haha
*
Here is the "tour guide" giving them a little speech about the cows and what they eat.
*
Next was the hay ride around the farm.

*
Then they got to feed the goats. I'm shocked Kylee did this. She can't even walk by a big dog without freaking out!

*
Petting the goats...

*
This was the funkiest looking rooster ever! I had to take a picture of it.

*
She loved this rabbit. You can't really see it but she wants one so bad! No thanks!

*
Holding the chicken and giving me the "sassiest" look ever!

*
Eating lunch with some of her classmates...

*
They make their own icecream on the farm. Here Kylee is endulging herself with a yummy bite!

I did it!!! Baby steps....

Last year I tried coupon sense and failed miserably at it. I just didn't know what I was doing and ended up spending more each month on newspapers and monthly fees for the program than I did on savings. SO....I quit and just kept spending a bunch of money on groceries each month. Well, about 2 months ago, one of my friends introduced me to a free website where they tell you how and where to save with coupons. Basically it's coupon sense but for FREE! So I went to the website, ordered my newspapers, and started collecting my coupons. It takes a couple weeks to get a good collection before the big savings start to happen, but I already feel a little relief this time around with my coupon adventure! I've seen pictures of people posting all that they bought and how they only paid $10 bucks or less for everything, but this is my start people......
I only bought 12 items but I got them ALL FOR FREE! Okay, I'm lying. My total came to $1.79......but that's practically free right!!? One of these days, I'll have my entire counter filled with groceries and I will gloat about how I only spent $10 bucks! Hee hee! Oh and come to find out, there are like a million websites out there that will do all the work for you and tell you where you can use what coupons and get things for practically free! It's great! Thanks to all you wonderful people out there who do this for everyone so they can have a little bit more money in their pockets at the end of the week! Love it!

Randomness...

This weekend was a bunch of randomness! On Friday, the girls in my family got together for our annual mother's day lunch. This year we ate at Olive Garden! Great choice! I hope all you mother's out there had a great mother's day!
*
The next day I took Kylee summer clothes shopping. With all of this 100 degree weather we've been having (not to mention our 100+ degree 7 day forecast I just saw last night on the news), I had to go out and buy Kylee some summer clothes. Gotta love Target!

*
While I was driving on the road yesterday, I saw this and just had to take a picture of it! These smart cars crack me up. I can't help but laugh everytime I see one. They are so small! Amazing that it can fit on the back of a truck horizontally! My sisters and I have this inside joke about these cars so I had to take this picture to send to them. Hahaha!

*
I absolutely LOVE this picture below. Natalie put this together and framed it for my Mom for Mother's Day. It turned out so dang cute! These are all the Montez grandkids in birth order. Notice all the boys back-to-back-to-back!!! My Mom was dying for a granddaughter. Lucky for her she got two in a row!

*
So there you have it! Randomness!!!

Introducing "KOVAH"

Well, the last practice of the season was last night. It's been a long and crazy journey from the beginning of the season, but the end is here and I'm very sad, yet relieved at the same time. I LOVE these girls and the 8 I have left are amazing. I say "8" because we originally started with 10...........long story (part of the long and crazy season I was talking about). ANYWAY, I'm so excited to see how we do tomorrow at regionals. These girls are amazing and I'm so sad to be ending our 3 year journey together. I started coaching this team when they were freshmen. I've watched them grow into amazing, talented, and beautiful athletes! Here are 7 of the 8 hanging out taking crazy pictures...

*

*
Here they are in true form!

*
This was hilarious. I wish we would've taken an "after" shot because they were all on the floor after knocking the black pad over! Hahahaha!

*
Don't mess with the yellow shoes!

*

*
To explain the title of my post: Our team name is really HAVOK but since we've had some crazy changes and have basically had a new start with these 8 girls left, we kind of threw out a change in our team name to KOVAH. I think you can figure out how we got that name! GO KOVAH!

Making the "best" of this AZ heat!

With 100 degree weather this past week, Kylee pretty much lived in her swimsuit. We had a lot of fun doing all that we could to stay cool. These are pictures of her playing in the sprinklers at grandma and papa Montez's. She had a blast this weekend there and she always loves having sleep overs with them! We love you Grandma and Papa Montez!

It has begun

Well, for those of you who live in Arizona (or who know what it's like here) then you know that summer starts in April! We have official hit 100 degree weather this week. YUCK!
Yes.....the AC is a-blowin'! I cranked it on yesterday, and ever since, it hasn't stopped! High SRP bill........I'll be waiting for you!!
*
The Popsicle season has officially begun as well.
Hence the color of Kylee's tongue in the picture below!!! This is a shot of her stinkin' CUTE bathing suit for this summer. I bought it on sale at the Pumpkin Patch in Colorado when I was there with my volleyball team last month. LOVE IT!!!
*
I whipped out the slip n' slide yesterday, along with the sprinkler on full blast beneath the trampoline. The trampoline wasn't as big of a hit as was the slip n' slide. But both Kylee and her cousin Cole had a blast!

*
I can't wait for the summer tans to begin. Kylee looks adorable in olive tanned skin, but hopefully Mommy can get some color back this summer too! Heaven knows I'm in desperate need of a tan!!! Happy summer everyone!

Beauty and the Beast

Last night (for family night) we went as a family to see Beauty and the Beast at Queen Creek High School. It was so much fun! We knew a few people in the play so it was fun to watch them in action. Kylee LOVED it! I don't think she even blinked the entire time. She kept her eyes peeled on Belle pretty much the whole time. She was sad at the end when we left before the cast members came out because she wanted to meet Belle. But we wanted to leave before the rush came. It was a great night though and I'm glad we went!
*
My pictures are kind of boring because of the fact that I couldn't take pictures during the show, and we didn't stay after. So these are just two pictures of us waiting for the curtain to open and for the show to start. Fun stuff!

Sorry David.......my camera phone doesn't take the best of pictures and since I couldn't see what I was taking a picture of, your head somehow got cut off! Hahaha!

The dark side...

I know I only blog about the "wonderful" things that Kylee does and the amazing "perfect" daughter that she is (which is true), but it's about time I post about one of the biggest pet-peeves of mine about her. One thing that is GREAT about Kylee is that she loves to clean. But one of the bad things about Kylee is that she spills ALL THE TIME! She's now at the point where she doesn't tell me when she spills and just cleans it up herself. The only problem with that is she'll try to clean up a juice spill with a dry paper towel or rag and leave it as is. Then Mommy gets to discover it a couple hours later when I'm walking across crunchy carpet. Not fun!
*
*
But when I get angry and start to chastize her for what she did, she gives me the most adorable face and says....."I was just trying to clean it up Mom!"

Now how in the world am I supposed to stay mad about something so innocent!! I don't.......that's the great, and bad, thing about it. Oh how I love being a Mom to this wonderful little girl!

Our BUSY Easter Weekend...

We had a very busy Easter weekend. It actually started on Wednesday when we took our young women to the Easter pageant. I hadn't been to the pageant in years so I was just as excited (if not more) to go as the girls. Here are some of us eating at Sonic before the "main event"...
*
Here are the "crazy" girls at the pageant waiting for the show to start...

*
I just have to note how much I LOVE all of my young women. This night was my official last mutual with them. I was released and am now the Primary president of our ward. I'm scared to death and intimidated by those little kids but I'm also very excited and anxious to grow to love them just as much as I love my young women. I'm going to miss those girls sooo much but I know that I have a new "mission" in this ward and that is to help these little children grow closer to their Savior. I can't wait!
*
*
The busy-ness continued on Friday when Kylee and I dyed some Easter eggs. We have a very fun traditional egg-cracking game that we play with both sides of the family, so Kylee and I had over 3 dozen eggs to dye this day. Kylee did a great job helping me!

*
Saturday was the Montez party so we made the long drive out to the West valley. After 1 traffic jam due to construction and another traffic jam due to an accident, AND then running out of gas and having to stop once again to fill up, it made for a LONG drive and we got a little stir crazy! Kylee took this picture below of me....

*
Kylee also took this picture of David as he was filling up the car. This is his "mean" Officer Pew look!

*
We finally arrived at my parent's house 45 minutes late, but it was worth it in the end because we had a lot of fun! Here is Kylee in her hunt for candy filled eggs!!! One was even filled with a $5 bill!!!! The Easter Bunny is VERY nice!

*
All the Montez grandkids!!

*
*
These next couple pictures are from Easter morning before church. Here is Kylee's cute Easter outfit...

*
And our attempt of setting the timer on my camera and taking a family picture. Awe....so cute!

*
This was just a very cute picture that I took of Kylee and David while testing out the timer on the camera. I love how Kylee is hugging David's leg! So precious!

*
*
That night was the Oram-Pew Easter party at Becky's. We had so much fun that night too. Obviously there are a "few" more grandkids on David's side of the family! Here is the grandkids photo...
*
*
We feel so blessed to have 2 amazing families! Kylee has the best cousins ever! She never has to feel like an only child because she always has cousins to play with everyday. We love all our family members so much and feel like the luckiest little family ever! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend!!!

Friday, April 10, 2009

As I was drying my hair this morning, Kylee started dancing around and singing (which isn't unusual or out of the norm because she is practically singing all day long).....but this time she was doing the same dance moves over and over with her singing. So I turned off the blow dryer to listen to her song, and lo and behold, Kylee knows the Hokey Pokey! I asked her where she learned it and she said preschool. When Daddy got home, I had Kylee "perform" for him. She got a little distracted when she discovered she could watch herself in the back door, but other than that she did a great job! Here she is in action...

Just because...

I feel the need to blog, even though nothing has really happened in a while (that seems blog worthy). But regardless, I treat this blog as my journal and if I want to stay up-to-date, I need to blog about my life at least once a week.
*
A "first" did happen this week for Kylee. She has never had the stomach flu.....she dodged it for 3 years and 8 months......until this past week. Luckily it only lasted 12 hours! I've never seen her so sick. It was the saddest thing ever! Even when she has 100+ degree temperatures, she's is usually still bouncing off the walls and a happy girl. Well, not this time! This was her from 2am until noon.....
*
*
Later that week (last Friday), Jodi and I drove out to the west side and hung out with Tausha! When we were in high school, we used to "splurge" every so now and then and go to Ah So for dinner. It's sooo yummy! I love the volcano onion the chef burns up right in front of your face! It makes me jump back every time! Anyway, here we are enjoying our yummy, yet expensive, feast! Mmmm!

*
David's first week at the new job has been great! This week (starting week 2) he is getting "worked out" by a guy who used to be a drill sargeant in the academy. So needless to say, he's getting his booty kicked! It's good for him though! He'll be in tip-top shape by the time June rolls around and he is ready to start the academy. I'm so proud of my man!
